A Message from Principal Walker
Welcome to the Phoenix High School Website
I’m incredibly excited to begin my third year as principal of Phoenix High School. I have had the opportunity to serve in this outstanding school district in various roles over the last 13 years and I am honored to serve as Principal for the 2020-2021 school year. I want you to know that I am highly passionate about creating an exceptional high school experience for every student, parent/guardian, and staff member at Phoenix High School. Our foundation is built on strong, positive relationships with all stakeholders who are actively involved with the education of our country’s next leaders. By consistently working together, we will accomplish many great achievements and represent Phoenix High School as one of the best high schools in the state. Although this year will look different due to the pandemic, one thing remains constant, being a Phoenix Pirate is special!
Phoenix High School has a strong tradition of excellent academic programs and extracurricular programs. PHS students and families radiate a great deal of Pirate Pride in the outstanding accomplishments that take place in many different arenas each year. Our plethora of academic and extracurricular options help to create an environment of significant opportunity for all students. We currently offer over 200 college credit opportunities through our partnership with Southern Oregon University, Rogue Community College, and Klamath Community College. We also offer eight AP classes with more being added in the coming years. Career Technical Education (CTE) is also an area our school has been focused on growing with courses in Automotive, Video Production, Health Careers, Art, Culinary, Construction, and many more to be offered over the next few years. We currently offer 23 OSAA sanctioned sports/activities, and our gymnasiums are covered in state championship and conference championship banners. At last count, we had over 25 student sponsored clubs!
As if this wasn’t enough excitement! This January, we will be moving into a fantastic new high school! We are so grateful for the exceptional community support we have received to offer our students, families, and community members a state of the art facility that matches our top-notch educational program.
Finally, the PHS staff wants to welcome you and let you know that we value each student’s uniqueness, goals, and dreams. We will have another outstanding year by focusing on our goals of rigor, relevance, and relationships.
It’s A Great Day To Be A Pirate!
